IsraAID and international humanitarian relief
IsraAID, Israel's leading humanitarian aid organization (private, apolitical, nongovernmental), will lead a conversation on IsraAID's immediate and long-term response worldwide to natural disasters, refugee crises, post-conflict situations, and epidemics such as COVID19. It will also highlight the bridges that IsraAID builds among diverse populations, such as among Syrian and Middle Eastern refugees, and IsraAID's diverse staff team of Israeli-Jews, Israeli Arab-Muslims, Israeli Arab-Christains, and Druze. It will also focus on ways in which IsraAID connects "global" and "local," meaningfully engaging multigenerational US audiences around humanitarian aid. It will conclude with potential ways for Rotary and IsraAID to work together on increasing inclusion and engagement and how we can continue to make the world a better place.
This conversation will be led by Rachel Wallace, IsraAID Director of Outreach & Engagement; and Glenn M. Gottleib, IsraAID Los Angeles' Local Leadership Council member, and mediator and attorney. Rachel oversees IsraAID’s community and university partnerships, programs, and events, and directs IsraAID’s Humanitarian Fellowship. She brings to the role her background in nonprofits, interfaith/international relations, and young professional and youth leadership development. Glenn is a trained, professional Mediator, with a more than 35-year background in business and transactional legal practice. He has successfully mediated hundreds of matters involving personal injury, premises liability, employment, intellectual property disputes, real property and construction defect, breach of contract, fraud, commercial disputes, collections, landlord-tenant, insurance coverage, unfair competition and bankruptcy issues, divorce and family disputes, and co-owner and inter-generational conflicts.
IsraAID is partnering with local food banks to provide our most vulnerable communities with food/vital relief supplies, and would be grateful for any support.  The number of people requesting food assistance is rising daily, while the number of volunteers supporting these operations has decreased due to the current restrictions. Together we can make a difference!
