The Save It Forward Initiative- High School Financial Literacy Boot Camp

Ronald Rishagen, a native of British Columbia, Canada, earned an athletic scholarship to Colorado College. After graduating with a degree in economics he continued a professional ice-hockey officiating career for seven years. After retiring from sports, he discovered a travel niche not being fulfilled resulting in his first entrepreneurial pursuit. Economic market changes five years later caused Ronald to sell the company. He then started his second entrepreneurial venture again in the travel industry. After 13 years an offer to sell was too good to refuse, so he sold the company and began his second retirement.A desire to enter the world of education resulted in Ron teaching economics and business courses at St. Bernard High School for 12 years. During his last year of teaching, he implemented an entrepreneurship class. To provide additional expertise and resources, a partnership with LMU Entrepreneurship Program was established whereby six senior LMU entrepreneurship students guided and counseled the SBHS entrepreneurship class. Now retired for the third time, Ron lives in Playa Del Rey and is an advisor to the Entrepreneurship Society at LMU and Instructor of Financial Literacy.
