Westchester Rotary Partners with Westside Pacific Villages

The Rotary Club of Westchester has supported Westside Pacific Villages, an organization that provides support to seniors aging in their own homes, for several years. However, when COVID-19 struck in early 2020, our Rotary Club jumped into action to provide critical services to our local seniors. Together, Rotarians and Westside Pacific Villages have become a lifeline to seniors across Los Angeles who were homebound during the pandemic.

Friday Deliveries

Beginning in March 2020, our members began delivering weekly meals and care packages to seniors with Westside Pacific Villages. For many seniors, this care package delivery was the only human interaction they received all week.

The care packages not only provided much needed fresh veggies, fruit and hot meals, but also included personal protective equipment like masks, hand sanitizer, and gloves. Over the last year and a half, our volunteers have forged close bonds with many of these seniors, resulting in lifelong friendships.

Providing Essential Services

Errands like grocery shopping, prescription pick-ups, and rides to medical appointments became critical lifelines to our seniors during the pandemic. Our members stepped up to the plate, making numerous grocery store runs, delivering medication and more.

Our tech savvy members assisted seniors with their computers and smart phones, providing a way for them to stay connected virtually to family and friends.

We also made weekly phone calls to vulnerable seniors who could not venture into public. The isolation and loneliness of the pandemic hit seniors hard, and our club members stepped in to provide essential care.

A Helping Hand

In addition to critical COVID-19 services, our club also helped with handy work around seniors' homes. From pruning fruit trees to taking out the trash to repairing a fence, we are passionate about improving the lives of our local seniors.

Thank you to Westside Pacific Villages for their organization and partnership!
